Whanganui podcast Revisited will return for a second season.

Creators Zaryd Wilson and Cass Alexander have begun work on six new episodes which are planned for release in the second half of 2017.

“We’ve been encouraged by the feedback and ongoing support for the podcast,” Zaryd says. “And there are stories which didn’t make it into season one which we still really wanted to tell.”

Revisited’s second season will again re-examine stories from Whanganui’s past which have a fantastical element to them but which also reflect and comment on the social issues of the time.

Cass says they will be forced to delve a bit deeper into the city’s history the second time around.

“The stories we’ve come up with for season two are probably a bit less known and in some cases, are stranger and darker.”

Revisited’s first season has been streamed more than 1600 times across the six episodes with the podcast still attracting a daily audience.

“Hopefully the audience for our existing episodes keeps growing throughout the year and we can build on that support with these new stories,” Zaryd says.

This year the pair will post progress updates and behind the scenes insights on Revisited’s Facebook page @revisitedpodcast as the episodes come together.

Season one told the stories of the 1915 riot in Victoria Avenue, the Aramoho Zoo which ran in the early 1900s, the hoax bomb threat at Star FM in 1996, former mayor Charles Mackay’s shooting of Darcy Creswell, the murder of Chinese market gardener Chow Yat and the bombing of the Wanganui Computer.

The stories for season two will be revealed closer to the release.
